Set up two-factor authentication (2FA)
Two-factor authentication (2FA) enhances the security of your account by requiring an additional layer of verification beyond your password. There are two methods you can choose to set up 2FA for your account:
Choosing the Right Method
Both methods provide an added layer of security to your account. For the highest level of protection, the authenticator app is recommended. However, if you prefer convenience or don’t use an app, SMS-based 2FA is a reliable alternative.
1. Use an Authenticator App
This option allows you to use a two-factor authentication app, such as Google Authenticator or 1Password to generate time-based security codes.
Steps to Set Up with an App
Download an Authenticator App:
If you don’t already have one, download an app like Google Authenticator or 1Password from your device's app store.
Open the Setup Screen:
Click Set up with an app under the 2FA settings on your Account Profile page.
Scan the QR Code:
Open your authenticator app and choose the option to add a new account.
Use the app to scan the QR code displayed on the screen.
Enter the Verification Code:
Once the QR code is scanned, the app will generate a 6-digit code.
Enter this code into the Code field on the setup screen.
Save Your Backup Code:
A backup code will be displayed. Copy this code and save it in a secure place (e.g., a password manager).
Important: This code allows you to recover access in case you lose your authenticator app.
Submit to Complete Setup:
Click Submit to finalize the setup. Your 2FA will now be activated, and you will be required to enter a code from your authenticator app every time you log in.

2. Receive Text Messages

Click Set up with your phone.
Enter your mobile phone number.
You will receive a text message with a code.
Enter the code to verify your phone number and enable 2FA.
