What Is DebiCheck?
DebiCheck is an enhanced debit order system introduced by PASA and South African banks to improve the security of recurring and once-off debit collections. DebiCheck is a secure and verified way to collect payments directly from your customers’ bank accounts.
It ensures customers know exactly what amount, on what date, and to whom they are giving permission to debit their account.
Unlike normal debit orders, DebiCheck mandates require your customer to electronically approve the debit order, ensuring full transparency and consent before collections occur.
DebiCheck is ideal for recurring payments such as:
Subscriptions or membership fees
Insurance premiums
Loans or repayment agreements
Each payment is linked to an approved mandate, which the customer must confirm through their banking channel.

DebiCheck collections run in the early collection window, which typically starts just after midnight — before 03:00 AM on banking days.
DebiCheck default settings
The following settings help you configure and understand key settings in the DebiCheck payment process:
Below are the key configurations to help you set up and understand your payment methods:

Type of payment - Specify the reason for the collection (e.g., Subscription, Donation, Service Fee). This appears on the bank file and can be customised per payment or set as a default. The payment type may be adjusted during the payment creation process.
Allow date adjustment? - The “Allow Date Adjustment?” setting controls whether the billing date of a DebiCheck mandate can be changed after the mandate has been approved. This provides flexibility in managing collections, especially if a customer wants to amend their debit date or if the original process date does not deliver as expected.
Switching this setting ON does not make the payment non-disputable when moving the collection date. It simply allows the bank to accept a new collection date. The payment may be disputed by the customer since the collection date differs from the date originally approved in the mandate.

Enable this option if you want to allow adjustments to the billing date.. If this setting is switched off, the bank won't accept another date sent to them at all. Should your date adjustment rule be switched ON, this rule would not be changeable during a single mandate creation. This provides flexibility should you have a payer who wishes to amend their date, or if you see that the approved process date don't deliver. When the rule is OFF, the process date remains fixed, and no changes to the debit date will be allowed by the bank without creating a new mandate. When ON, the date adjustment rule set under your payment method settings will be applied to this collection. Date adjustment rules If this rule is on, you have the ability to set your rule.
Collect on the collection day - this way you can keep the process day for the collection as per approved mandate without any changes. Should you want to apply another rule at a later stage, then the rule will be applied to all new and existing collections.
Collection on the previous business day - Monday - Friday. Should a payment fall on a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, the colleciton day will be shifted to the previous business day available.
Collection on the previous banking day - Monday - Saturday. Should a payment fall on a Sunday or public holiday, the colleciton day will be shifted to the previous banking day available.
The allow date adjustment rule must also be switched on to apply adjustments to your collections on a periodic time too. (Adjustment Category, Adjustment Type Adjustment Rate/Amount)
Is Collection Amount Variable? Enable this setting if you want to change the payment amount over time. If this setting is disabled, the bank will reject any amount other that what was specified on the mandate.
Is Payment Tracking Enabled? Turn on payment tracking to monitor an account to debit the payment within a defined period.
Max Payment Tracking Days: Set a maximum of 10 days for tracking.
Adjustment Settings: These allow for automatic adjustments based on predefined rules:
Adjustment Category: Specify how often adjustments occur (e.g., Annually or monthly).
Adjustment Type: Choose between Rate or Fixed adjustments.
Adjustment Rate/Amount: Enter the rate for adjustments, expressed as a percentage or amount.
Approval window:
DebiCheck has approval windows which define the timeframes within which a client must authorise their DebiCheck payment. These windows ensure secure and timely authorisation of payments, with different options available depending on the urgency and method of approval. Understanding the various approval window types helps manage transaction timelines efficiently.
